Some wall has come out when I removed panelling that was stuck to it by nail and glue. What options do I have?

Hi -

We removed panelling on one of the walls that had been stuck on by nail and glue. Removing it has removed some of the wall (looks cardboardy). We were hoping it was just held together by nails and we could simply paint over the damage but now it doesnt look like that is an option. Any suggestions? Thanks! Some wall has come out when I removed panelling that was stuck to it by nail and glue. What options do I have?

Not drywall?

It sounds like a material they used in prefabricated homes for a while.

You can patch any chips and scratches using a lightweight spackle.

But if the hole goes through the wall, the spackle won't hold, in which case you would have to patch it with pieces of drywall first, then fill in the seams with tape and mud.

Most likely the material is 3/8'; thick, in which case, you would need to patch it with 3/8'; drywall.
